Ghana National Council provides Ghanaian community children in Chicago with school supplies

The Ghana National Council distributed school supplies, including backpacks and calculators among about 50 Ghanaian children in Chicago at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1012 East 47th Street in Chicago.

The GNC had advertised the event on Sankofa Online (the Ghanaian online publication) and on Facebook.  Present at the event were the President of the GNC, Mr. Ebenezer Antwi-Nsiah, the Vice President, Paa Kwesi Sam, the GNC Organizing Secretary, Mr. Steve Dei, Mr. Sadik Aboagye, Executive Secretary of GNC, and Mr. Fred Eddie-Quartey, Business Manager of the GNC.

Food was also provided for the children and their parents.  The parents thanked the GNC for their effort and expressed their gratitude for the gesture.  The GNC President apologized for the late launch of the program but expressed optimism that next year the program will serve more children and will be launched earlier.

Parents had to register either by clicking a link on Sankofa or logging on to the GNC website.
